Safe in the Storm

1,336 words

The storm arrived before dusk, shaking rain from the pines and driving the pack home early.

By the time Rowan carried you through the lodge door, you were trembling against his chest. You were an adult, his mate, and perfectly capable of walking, but the frightened little corner of your mind had taken over. Words felt too large. The world felt too loud.

“I’ve got you, puppy,” he murmured.

Rowan was enormous even before shifting, an alpha broad enough to block the hallway. Tonight, however, he wasn’t merely your alpha. He was your caregiver, the man who knew that when you slipped into little space, you needed choices made small and simple.

“Blanket or bath?”

“Blanket.”

“Good girl.”

The praise loosened something inside you. He settled you on the couch beside the fire, tucked a quilt beneath your chin, and joined the other wolves long enough to confirm that everyone had returned safely. Betas checked doors and windows. The younger pack members brought in firewood. Only when the whole pack was secure did Rowan kneel before you.

His expression softened.

“Still small?”

You nodded.

“Do you want Daddy?”

Another nod.

“Use your words, sweetheart.”

“Yes, Daddy.”

“There she is.”

He kissed your forehead and curled around you, letting you hide against the warm expanse of his chest. Cuddling him was like being sheltered by a wall that breathed. When thunder rolled, he praised you for staying calm. When you whined, he scratched behind your ear and called you his sweet puppy.

The pack understood. No one stared when you followed Rowan upstairs on unsteady legs, wearing his old shirt and clutching the stuffed wolf he kept for nights like this.

In your bedroom, he sat you between his knees and brushed your hair.

“Are you coming back up?”

“A little.”

“No hurry.”

Little space never frightened him. Neither did the age-regressed softness that sometimes accompanied it. He treated it as something deserving care, never shame. When your thoughts finally sharpened and adult desire returned, you placed your hand over his.

“Rowan.”

His eyes met yours in the mirror.

“Tell me clearly.”

“I’m back. I want to play.”

“Which kind?”

“Puppy. Rope. Rough.” Heat climbed your face. “Daddy too.”

He turned you toward him. “And if you go small again?”

“Everything stops.”

“Good girl.”

The words sent you floating before he had tied a single knot.

Rowan stripped you slowly, teasing each newly exposed patch of skin with his mouth. He kissed your neck until you squirmed, then left small love bites across your collarbone. When his teeth pressed more firmly against the mating mark on your shoulder, your whole body arched.

“Mine,” he growled.

“Yours.”

He fastened a padded collar around your throat, then bound your wrists with soft rope. The restraints held without hurting. He checked them twice before guiding you onto the bed.

“You look so pretty like this,” he said. “All tied up for your alpha.”

You shivered beneath his stare.

“And so needy,” he added. “My beautiful, desperate little slut.”

Praise and degradation tangled together, pushing you deeper. He made you keep your eyes on him while his fingers slid between your thighs. When you tried to look away, embarrassed by how wet you were, he caught your chin.

“Eyes on Daddy.”

You obeyed.

“That’s my good puppy.”

He edged you mercilessly, stroking and finger-fucking you until you hovered near release, then stopping every time your breathing broke. He kissed your throat while you begged. He licked you slowly, holding your hips down as his tongue worked your clit, only to pull away before you could come.

“Please.”

“Please what?”

“Please let me come, Daddy.”

He gave your cheek one measured slap. The sting shocked a moan from you.

“Louder.”

“Please!”

Rowan smiled, dark and pleased, then spat onto your swollen sex and rubbed it in with his thumb. “Look at the mess you’re making.”

You whimpered.

He spanked you until warmth bloomed across your backside, praising every count you managed. When you missed one, he teased you for being too empty-headed to remember. By then, subspace had softened the room around its edges. The ropes, his voice, and the weight of his hand were the only things that felt real.

He released your wrists and immediately rubbed circulation back into them. Then he helped you kneel between his legs.

“Just warm me.”

You lowered yourself carefully onto his cock. The size difference always stole your breath. Rowan filled you until you felt stretched around him, and then he held you still in his lap, cock warming while he kissed your damp cheeks.

“You take me so well.”

You clenched helplessly.

“Teasing me?” he asked.

You shook your head.

“Liar.”

His hand closed lightly around your throat. It was pressure, not danger, exactly as you had agreed. He made you look at him while he rolled his hips upward once.

Your moan broke.

The control in his expression vanished.

He lowered you onto the mattress, untied the remaining rope, and lifted your knees toward your chest. The mating press made you feel even smaller beneath him. His cock drove into you in deep, rough strokes, and he talked you through every one.

“Made for your alpha.”

“Yes.”

“Made to take my knot.”

“Yes!”

“Made to carry my pups?”

The breeding words were fantasy, part of the scene, but they burned through you anyway.

“Yes, Alpha. Breed me.”

He bit your shoulder as you came. The mating mark flared beneath his teeth, and your orgasm dragged another from you before the first had finished. Rowan kept thrusting, forcing you through the trembling sensitivity, praising you until the praise became filthy and the filth sounded like devotion.

When you tried to turn your face away, overwhelmed, he tapped your cheek.

“Look at me.”

You obeyed.

He spat into your open mouth. You swallowed because you wanted to, and his growl told you exactly what it did to him.

Another orgasm seized you.

Then his knot began to swell.

Rowan buried himself completely, locking you together while his body shook over yours. You felt each hot pulse inside you. His forehead dropped to yours.

“Mine,” he whispered again.

“Yours.”

For several minutes, neither of you could move. Rain hammered the roof. Somewhere downstairs, a beta laughed, and the ordinary sound made the strange intensity of being knotted by a werewolf feel almost domestic.

Then Rowan’s nostrils flared.

“You need to go.”

Humiliation rushed through you. “I can hold it.”

“No.” His voice gentled. “You don’t have to.”

The pressure in your bladder had become painful, but the knot kept you pinned beneath him. You had discussed this too. Still, knowing it was permitted did not make surrender easy.

“Daddy…”

“I’ve got you. Let go.”

You wet the absorbent blanket beneath you, face burning as warmth spread between your bodies.

Rowan kissed your forehead.

“Good girl. Nothing to be ashamed of.”

Relief and embarrassment pulled a sob from you. He held you through it, stroking your hair until the watersports edge of the scene became simple comfort again.

When his knot finally receded, he carried you to the shower. He washed you carefully, cleaned every mark, and inspected your wrists. Afterward, he brought water, a sweet snack, and one of his shirts.

The storm had weakened by the time he shifted.

Bones rolled beneath his skin. His human shape expanded and folded until an enormous black wolf stood beside the bed—an actual wolf, not a half-human creature from cheap horror films. Rowan circled twice before settling against your back.

You buried your fingers in his fur.

“Stay?”

He huffed warmly against your neck.

Downstairs, the rest of the pack moved through the lodge, secure within the shared territory. Upstairs, surrounded by Rowan’s scent and the steady beat of rain, you tucked yourself against your mate.

Whether you were his woman, his puppy, or his small and sleepy girl, the promise remained the same.

You belonged here.

And when morning came, Rowan was still curled around you.
